Day O' Fun

Let the site-seeing begin. The Snows wanted to go out and notch a few items off of their DC list and we were all for tagging along. Here are some of the highlights ---

Grant and Blake in front of a dinosaur skeleton at the National Geographic Museum. This wasn't as big as we expected, but the kids loved the dinosaurs and they also had a cool frog exhibit.

Grant and Blake's friend Ethan. It was nice having company for the kids. Grant and Blake loved having another partner in crime.

"Look kids a dinosaur bird!"

Blake thought this dinosaur head skeleton was really cool!

Here we are at the Free Mason's temple. We thought that they were having an open house today, but apparently not.

"Hey let us in!"

Those are some tall doors.
Grant and Blake really liked climbing up all the stairs. If only they were that excited about all the other walking we had to do!

Here we are at the National Portrait Gallery. I'm standing next to a true American hero, Stephen Colbert.

This column at the Portrait Gallery - Modern Art exhibit was cool! It flashed random messages that curved around in column shape. They totally need to make more of these!

Look at the spacious hall. The National Portrait Gallery is in a beautiful building.

We also liked this exhibit. A map of the United States with neon borders around every state. Inside each state was an assortment of TVs, each presenting random images representative of the state they're in. Here is Melanie next to California. Every other state has lots of cool images, but what is on the Idaho TV sets, you might ask? Nothing but potatoes. Surely, the artist could have thought of something else....

This exhibit was awesome! I have an annoying habit of trying to decipher any vanity plate that I see. Try enlarging the picture and deciphering the message.

This is us stopping at 5 guys for dinner. Best hamburgers in Virginia! And there's one right around the block from the National Portrait Gallery.

PS -- Here are some bonus picture of Hayden standing up against the couch. He started doing this at lunch time today.

  1. Hayden also got his first top tooth this week, and said his first words!! First "Mom" and then "peek-a-boo". It was adorable. We're so in love with our Hayden!

  3. Nice pictures. It looks like you had a good day.

We went to a number of antique stores and to the nursery. We bought two camillias and four roses.
