I made the same Mickey silhouette cupcakes, baked up some cookies, mixed some coloring into store-bought frosting and we were ready! The kids loved slathering the cookies with ridiculous amounts of frosting and piles of sprinkles. Then we opened presents: Hayden got tons of Mickey Mouse stuff. He's a fan, can you tell? He also really enjoyed the giant dog book from Aunt Erica. After presents we had cookies and more playtime with piles of balloons in the basement.
On his actual birthday, we hit build-a-bear for a stuffed dog he named "Dirty Dog". And we ate at McDonald's. We tried for two weeks to change his mind, but he only wanted McD's. Ugh. So gross. They kids had a blast playing at least!
We're looking forward to the next year with Hayden. He's a great helper, loves his sister, and is so great at playing on his own. He makes us crazy with his picky eating and we've got to help him quit sucking his thumb. But this next year he gets to start school! I'll miss chillin' with him during the day.
Here's a slideshow of his big day:
