WAAD
WAAD was AMAZING this year! I love this new celebration of autism. It's only in its fourth year, but it gets bigger each year. On top of that, the Light It Up Blue campaign, which is only in its second year, gets bigger each year. We had SO many friends and family from coast to coast Light it Up Blue for Grant and all families with autism. Nearly 100 blue light bulbs were passed out by our extended family, FB turned blue with support, and my blog posting got nearly 150 hits (the most ever)! It was wonderful to feel a part of the autism community and feel the support of all our friends and family, thank you! Dan created an AMAZING video about Grant and autism. It has nearly 400 hits! Dan forwarded me so many emails thanking him for the video and sharing how it touched them. Awesome! If you haven't seen it yet, here it is:
Now for our family celebrations: We dressed in blue on Saturday and passed out our first ever Hobbs Family Light It Up Blue Awards. Our first recipient is Alayna. She is SO sweet! She and Grant were in the same first grade class at school and she is in our ward at church. They are in the same Primary class and EVERY week, Alayna sits next to Grant and helps him find the scriptures they look up in class. They are good friends and she is such a blessing to us. It's wonderful to know people care about Grant and help him in ways I don't even think of! And big shout out to her wonderful parents for raising such a thoughtful and sweet daughter!
Our second award winner was Regan of course!! She's loved Grant and stood by him since the day he was born. She's patient and loving with him. She understands him and knows how to cheer him up and play with him. She is such a big part of our lives and of Grant's life. She wasn't home, so we left her balloons on the door step.
We rounded the day out with a blue dinner. Best WAAD Ever!
