Blake is ready for fireworks.
Grant thought the fireworks were really loud and scary. He cried and sat on Mom's lap almost the whole time.
We had a rocking 4th of July. We started the day by watching a free kid movie at our local movie theater. The movie was called "Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit". Not your typical patriotic movie, but Melanie and I were quite surprised. We loved it and were cracking up throughout the whole movie at all the one-liners. The kids also had a good time, as evidenced by the giant fit Grant threw when the movie ended. He got over it quickly though.
After the movie, we went home to prepare for party part 2.... BBQ at the Burdicks. The food was great. We had the classic hamburgers and hotdogs with shrimp on the barbie, Melanie's new potatoe salad recipe with bacon and blue cheese, chips, veggies, banana pudding, and boiled black cupcakes. Yum Yum!
After the BBQ we high-tailed it to the Taylor's house. Their property backs up right to the school where they launch the fireworks. Apparently Manassas hosts the second largest firework display in greater DC metro area (behind Washington DC, of course). The firework show didn't disappoint, but our family gave it mixed reviews:
Melanie, Travis, and Hayden : Excellent showing, 4 stars, and 6 thumbs up.
Grant : Way too loud and scary. 0 stars. 2 thumbs down.
Blake : Kind of loud, yet I can't stop watching. The finale was kind of a bore, I fell asleep. 1 star. 1 thumb up, 1 thumb down.
Oh my gosh, GREAT pictures of the kids! They look so cute in their red white and blue! Looks like you had a fun day!
ReplyDeleteI just love all of your cute little boys! Hayden is getting SO big! Wyatt loved the fireworks, but we were a long way away, I think if we were closer they would have scared him too! Garrett slept through the whole thing! You guys are such a cute little family!
