Zoo Day

Say cheese!

Blake with a juice moustache after lunch.

Grant is very excited to take a picture with this hermit crab

The boys check out the crab together. They are all wet from the misting machines spraying water on the walkways at the zoo.

Blake is knocked out from seeing all the animals

Grant takes a siesta on the way home too

We dragged our kiddos to the zoo yesterday and it was so hot!! Thankfully we got there early, so we left once it was really really hot. The kids were kind of non-interested in just about everything we saw. Grant liked the Gibbons, especially when when climbed right toward us. Everything in the small mammal house was a "mouse" to Blake.
The favorite part of the whole trip was the invertibrate house where the kids were amazed a stationary sea anemone. They stood there smiling and oohing over the brightly colored anemones for the longest time. The stinken anemone beat out the panda, elephant, monkey, and even the naked mole rats this year. Grant was also really interested in the hermit crabs. Then on the way out of the invertibrate house, we saw some butterflies, which they also thought were pretty cool.
We were all tired out and hot by the time we left and we thought: don't they have this same stuff in the winter? Why did we go in the summer? haha At least the kids slept on the way home.

  1. Melanie forgot to mention that the other animal that kids really, really, really got excited about were the stinkin' pigeons that were scanvenging for food while we were eating lunch.

  2. You could probably do pigeons in the local park at home and forget about all this fuss at the zoo. Great story and fun pictures of the boys. Happy Birthday Trav.
