Happy New Year!

We tried something new for New Year's Eve this year and we LOVED it!!! We went to First Night Alexandria, an alcohol-free night of performances an activities in the city of Alexandria. Everything is centered around the HUGE George Washington Masonic Temple and involves over 30 venues with over 100 performances all night. We arrived around 9:30 and saw four different groups including our favorite, the Stairwells, an all-male a cappella group from the College of William and Mary. They performed on the Masonic Temple steps right before midnight. After the big countdown, there was an amazing fireworks display right in front of the temple, pretty much at eye-level with where we were standing. Thankfully, it stopped raining just in time for the show. Anyway, as you can tell, we thought it was the BEST way to spend New Year's and we'll be doing it again next year. Only we'll get there even earlier to enjoy more of the shows. We finished up the night with a trip to IHOP where the food was not so great, but awesome for starving party-ers!

Riding the shuttle to the Masonic temple...

It was a bit rainy, thankfully all the fun was inside!

Ready to party!

George oversees the par-tay.

The americana band with washboard and washtub bass! It was cool!

Hard to see, but here's the Stairwells.

Travis and Dave with all of Alexandria in the backgroud.

How beautiful is this building?

Fireworks right in front of us!

Happy NEW YEAR!!
